The Bluegrass Gospel Blog

Notes &

i don’t want to call myself a “christian” anymore…

iknowineedyou:

too many people, over many years, ruined the name for us all.

i want to be known as someone after God’s own heart.

i want to be known as someone that’s covered in His dust.

I hear you.

In Philippians 4:8, Paul writes, “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

He doesn’t mean you should stop telling the truth about the state of Christianity. He means that sometimes you just have to shift your focus.

So, Mother Teresa, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Martin Luther King, Dorothy Day, the Proverbs 31 woman, the apostle Paul, Esther, Mary (all of ‘em), Priscilla and Aquila, and Jesus — always, always Jesus — instead of … which ever “Christian” is shaming us on TV this week.

That said, I think I have some of the best and most compassionate followers on Tumblr. Some are Christian, some aren’t, but so far, no haters. Take a look at my blog — I’ve been reblogging my followers regularly — and see what Christianity can look like.
